A negro preacher, named James Walker Hood, at Magnolia, Miss., wrote an insulting letter to the Superintendent, and two young men went to see him with regard to it. The negro shot one of them, who was the son of the ex-sheriff, and then fired on the crowd. He was riddled with bullets.
