A negro named Harry Hillard was burned to death in the presence of 7,000 people at Tyler, Tex., on the 29th, for outrage and murder of Mrs. Bell. He confessed his crime.
An eyewitness recalled with astonishment, "Hilliard's power of endurance was the most wonderful thing on record! His lower limbs burned off before he became unconscious."
