P.F.C. Willie R. Hancock Now Serving In Germany
With the 2nd Armored Division in Germany P.F.C. Willie Roosevelt Hancock Jr., whose parents live in Charlotte Court House, Va., is now serving in Germany with the 2nd Armored “Hell on Wheels” Division.
The armored outfit arrived in Europe to join the North Atlantic Pact Army in July 1951. During World War II the division was the first American unit to enter the fallen city of Berlin.
Hancock entered the army in February 1951 and arrived in Europe for duty in June 1952.
In civilian life, he was a truck driver for the Chesapeake Paper Company, Hopewell, Virginia.
